Kaspersky finds a third of employees consider changing jobs in light of the pandemic

According to a Kaspersky survey, 40% of employees in North America are considering a switch to a new job in the next 12 months as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Globally, the two biggest drivers that people stated for this career change include the aspiration of receiving a higher salary (49%) and maintaining a fair work-life balance (41%).

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is clear that employees have begun to rethink their current work environments and realize the value of their time and what they want to spend it on. However, despite uncertainties in the job market, employees still have increasing ambition when it comes to their careers.

While nearly half would prefer to remain in their current position (45%), many employees still feel emboldened to reconfigure their workdays to better fit around their personal lives. In North America, the biggest motivator for employees to try a new job is to achieve a better salary (42%). Reducing stress and overtime work was the second leading factor, motivating 39% of respondents. After salary and reduced stress, creating a better work life balance is the third most important reason that employees will consider a change in employment (33%).

"By rethinking their desires and capabilities, employees will create a new working reality," comments Sergey Martsynkyan, head of B2B product marketing at Kaspersky. "By changing their job or staying in their current roles, they will strive to maintain the benefits of remote work and more comfortable settings. To achieve this, employees need to apply the appropriate attitude, learn to be flexible and work smarter. In addition, they need to organize their working environment and take responsibility for its reliability and security. After all, this can even become a competitive advantage in employers' eyes."
