Civo introduces free learning program to combat Kubernetes complexity

Civo is proud to announce the launch of Civo Academy: a free, full Kubernetes learning programme. The academy, consisting of over 50 videos from in-house developers at Civo, is available now and is completely free to access - with only a simple email registration required. The academy will help combat the complexity surrounding Kubernetes by covering key topics using approachable step-by-step video walkthroughs, hosted by Civo's own experts.

The academy will take inductees through the basic topics of Kubernetes, including the history, concepts, introduction, and setup, as well as more complex topics like configuration, security, networking and more. Each lesson aims to make Kubernetes accessible and is hosted by one of the academy's expert instructors who are also part of the Civo team, including:

  • Saiyam Pathak: Director of Technical Evangelism at Civo, CNCF and Traefik Ambassador.
  • Alex Jones: Principal Engineer at Civo, TAG App Delivery Technical Lead for the CNCF, and ambassador for Continuous Delivery Foundation and the DevOps institute.
  • Anaïs Urlichs: Site Reliability Engineer at Civo and CNCF Ambassador.
  • Kai Hoffman: Developer Advocate and Web Developer at Civo.
  • Kunal Kushwaha: Dev Advocate at Civo and CNCF Ambassador.

Recent research from Civo that surveyed 1,000 cloud developers on the use of containers in organisations, found that 47% of respondents stated complexity as the reason for slowing their organisation's adoption of containers. The academy will help to demystify Kubernetes by bringing together a comprehensive resource of knowledge on the topic in one place. Crucially, it is designed to be accessible not only for those new to software development, but experienced developers too.

All videos are available on demand so everyone can learn at their own pace. The courses are also accessible through the Civo dashboard, optimised for any device, so you can learn Kubernetes on the go from anywhere.

Saiyam Pathak, Director of Technical Evangelism at Civo commented: "We created Civo Academy to tackle the most pressing issue facing our industry: complexity. This steep learning curve is shutting out too many developers from accessing all the benefits Kubernetes offers to our cloud-native world.

"The academy's courses are designed to guide developers through all stages of their journey with Kubernetes, with material suited to everyone from novices just starting out, to seasoned developers looking for trusted insights to help shape their next project."

Mark Boost, CEO & co-founder of Civo said: "Community has been at the heart of Civo's mission from the very beginning. We are committed for Civo Academy to be a platform for change in our industry, helping hone the skills of talented developers and inspire the next generation. The academy is our way of giving back to that community - for free, in the spirit of open-source."
