RSS is selected to join 5G Open Innovation Lab's fall program, the edge infrastructure company, announced its participation in the 5G Open Innovation Lab (The 5G OI Lab) Fall program alongside three new corporate partnerships and 15 other multi-stage startups. As a part of the 5G OI Lab ecosystem they will deliver disruptive new enterprise technologies and solutions that capitalize on the power of edge computing and 5G.

The 5G Open Innovation Lab is a collaborative, development-focused ecosystem approach unlike traditional models, bringing together visionary startups, industry leaders, technical experts, and investors to break down silos that hamper innovation and build what's next. In just two years, the Lab has attracted a roster of world-class corporate and industry partners including Amdocs, Avanade, CNH Industrial, Dell Technologies, Ericsson, F5, Intel, Microsoft, Nokia, Palo Alto Networks, Spirent and T-Mobile. It has also recruited 87 multi-stage enterprise startups who have collectively raised $1.2B of venture capital.

Sunlight is a complete software-defined infrastructure platform and infrastructure manager. It makes deploying, running and managing applications at the edge as easy as the cloud. By turning each location into a ‘micro cloud', all legacy and bleeding edge services can be consolidated onto a single, highly available, small footprint and ruggedised stack of hardware. These micro-clouds can then be managed remotely as one distributed cloud from a central management dashboard - allowing applications to be deployed and managed across all sites, in just a few clicks.

Sunlight founder and CEO, Julian Chesterfield, says, "Only a relatively small number of startups are invited to join each batch, so we're delighted to have been asked to be a part of the Fall program. The highly distributed and resource-constrained nature of edge computing requires an entirely different infrastructure platform to deploy efficiently at scale - that's where we've focused our innovation and how we will support corporate and startup partners looking to transform the future of enterprise edge computing."
