they are saying YES. YES to the single most important EUC event of the
year - bringing together the leading disruptors of the EUC universe.
The event takes place in Nashville, TN, April 3-5, 2023 at the Gaylord
Opryland Resort & Convention Center Nashville.
Get
started by reading this exclusive pre-show interview between VMblog and Terry Vaughn, Director DaaS Business Development at VMware.
VMblog: To kick start things, give us a quick overview about the company.
Terry Vaughn: VMware is a leading provider of multi-cloud services for all apps, enabling
digital innovation with enterprise control. As a trusted foundation to
accelerate innovation, VMware software gives businesses the flexibility and
choice they need to build the future. Our solutions provide IT with multi-cloud
services and management, enables developers and operators to build and operate
modern apps, and empowers employees with secure access to apps from any device.
VMblog: Talk about your
technology, what problems do you solve? And how are you considered
unique?
Vaughn: Let's focus on End-User Computing and in particular desktop and app
virtualization with VMware Horizon. Horizon is a modern platform for secure
delivery of virtual desktops and apps across the hybrid cloud. Organizations
use Horizon to deliver secure access to corporate apps and data. Instead of
managing distributed physical desktops, IT can deliver and centrally manage
virtual desktops and apps on any cloud with Horizon. Desktop and app
virtualization accelerates and simplifies desktop and app deployments, while
reducing IT costs. VMware's virtualization expertise provides Horizon unique
benefits and best-in-class technologies that enable one-to-many provisioning
and streamlined management of images, apps, profiles and policies. Our Blast
Extreme protocol delivers an immersive, feature-rich user experience for end users
across devices, locations, media and network connections. Enabled by
enterprise-grade management capabilities and a deep VMware technology
ecosystem, Horizon extends the digital workspace to all apps.
VMblog: How do you partner with
IGEL? What does that partnership look like? How long have you
been a partner?
Vaughn: IGEL and VMware are technology partners. We have had a long and powerful
relationship that provides benefits for our joint customers. The natural
intersection of desktop and app virtualization with edge OS for access helps
our customers deliver VDI across edge devices. We have been sponsoring each
other's conferences for years, where we showcase each other's innovation in the
VDI, DaaS, and published app space.
VMblog: What do you plan to show
off at your booth at DISRUPT 2023?
Vaughn: We're excited to show off our new Apps on Demand capabilities for VDI, DaaS,
and published app environments. Particularly for published app environments,
VMware is reinventing published apps with Apps on Demand to help organizations
reduce day 2 management time and infrastructure costs. By delivering apps to
published app farms and hosts on-demand, apps only use host resources when they
are actually being used by employees. This innovation allows IT to reduce the
number of OS images they're managing, the time they're spending managing their
farms, and the number of hosts they require to host apps.
VMblog: What is it that you like
about the DISRUPT event? Why do you believe this is a much needed
event?
Vaughn: Disrupt is one of the only dedicated EUC conferences and it's great to have the
brightest industry minds in one place. Customers and partners come to see the
latest innovations in EUC, to network and build relationships, and get
hands-on-training. There's nothing like it in the EUC space.
VMblog: What do you attribute to
the growing success of End User Computing? Why has it become so
popular lately?
Vaughn: End User Computing is all around us 24/7. As user, apps, and devices multiple,
customers face new challenges in management, and look towards vendors like us
to solve those challenges. We've seen an uptick in interest in EUC technologies
lately because of the trend of remote and hybrid work. VDI, DaaS, and other EUC
technologies are perfect for those types of use cases that are top of mind for
our customers.
VMblog: How do you and your
solution help with the growth of the EUC market? Where does your
technology fit?
Vaughn: VMware is a pioneer in the EUC market, inventing VDI almost 15 years ago. Since
then, we have expanded our portfolio to help customers with published apps,
DaaS, unified endpoint management, workspace security, and digital employee
experience. With remote and hybrid work front and center, we combine our
technologies into our Anywhere Workspace platform. As organizations leverage
our Anywhere Workspace platform to empower their workforces, they can achieve
successful outcomes for experience, security, and automation.
VMblog: Where do you see the EUC
market headed?
Vaughn: We believe autonomous workspaces are the future of EUC. Operational efficiency
is a top IT priority for EUC teams. Autonomous workspaces combine automation
with data sciences (think AI/ML, API and orchestration, and ecosystem services)
to help IT with data-driven outcomes for security, management, and experience.
Our Anywhere Workspace platform enables self-configuring, self-healing, and
self-securing that allow IT to deliver autonomous workspaces.
