Veeam
Software, the leader in Modern Data Protection and Ransomware
Recovery, announced that it has appointed Shiva Pillay as the new
General Manager and Senior Vice President of Americas for Veeam, responsible
for leading Veeam's growth and business operations across the region. Most
recently, Pillay was the Veeam General Manager & Senior Vice President for
Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) at Veeam, joining the company in 2018. During this
time, he successfully led sales, channels and alliances, and pre-sales across
the region.
His
passion for customers, partners and our people is
clear in how he approaches business and the way in which he builds and leads
teams. Under his leadership, the Veeam APJ team has grown market share in key segments,
helping solve modern data management challenges for customers across the region.
"Companies are facing many challenges in
keeping their business running today. It is a far more complex IT environment that encompasses the cloud, SaaS and on-premises resources. At the same time,
there's a growing threat from cyber-attacks. In the past twelve months alone, 85% of organizations
experienced ransomware attacks at least once,"
said Pillay. "At Veeam, we are focused on helping customers keep their business
running by protecting their data and if the worst happens, helping them to
recover rapidly. Over the past
five years, I've witnessed how Veeam delivers the absolute best product
innovation, customer experience and partner collaboration. That's helped make
us #1 in the world for Data Protection and Recovery. I'm excited to join the
Americas team at this time and am looking forward to the journey ahead."
Pillay
has spent more than 15 years in the IT industry, working across various spaces
including Data Protection, Security, SaaS, and Automation. Shiva has held
senior leadership positions at RSA, EMC, The SCE
Group, Prevalent Inc. and SevOne. His experience covers several functions,
revenue generation, sales, customer retention, professional services,
operations, channel, and alliances in both regional and global capacities, having
lived in Australia, the US, and Singapore.
Pillay
currently serves as an advisor for several start-up organizations in the US and
graduated with a Bachelor of Arts and Psychology from the University of
Wollongong. He currently resides in Boston, Massachusetts.
"Shiva
has been an extraordinary member of our leadership team at Veeam," said John
Jester, chief revenue officer (CRO) at Veeam. "He understands what drives our
employees, pushes our partners to mutual success, and the evolution of our
customers' needs. The Americas is a pivotal region for Veeam and I'm confident
that under Shiva's leadership will maintain its strong growth trajectory and accelerate enterprise presence as we strive to
keep businesses running and build a safer, more secure future with the new Veeam Data Platform."
