DataStax, powering the Right-Now Enterprise with the always-on, distributed cloud database built on Apache Cassandra, unveiled new on-demand pricing. This new pricing option makes it easy for the company’s enterprise customers to take full advantage of public clouds with maximum benefit from the data layer as their capacity, performance, and workload needs change. The on-demand pricing is available for all DataStax Enterprise (DSE) customers, whether they deploy DSE in a cloud, hybrid cloud, or on-premises environment.

“Our customers are rapidly deploying hybrid clouds for demanding new use cases in customer experience and enterprise optimization,” said Steve Rowland, EVP and president at DataStax. “They need a cloud database solution that is contextual, always-on, real-time, distributed, and scalable–and they want all of that with maximum flexibility in terms of capacity and workloads in addition to pricing. A majority of our customers use DataStax Enterprise in a cloud or hybrid cloud environment today. Our new on-demand pricing option makes it even easier for them to scale new deployments rapidly, with confidence, and without worrying about over- or under-committing for new applications.”

DataStax’s new on-demand pricing solves several problems for customers who can now:

  • Get additional nodes of DataStax Enterprise without a salesperson involved
  • Use what they need without complex sizing exercises
  • Benefit from pricing based on daily usage
  • Flex up and down throughout the year, especially during burst periods such as holiday shopping, game or product launches, or other seasonal spikes
  • Conserve development use case costs by going idle when not in use
