VMblog is partnering with Nerdio and Recast Software to capture real-world insights from the people on the front lines of virtual desktop and published app delivery.
The virtual desktop infrastructure landscape is changing fast. Azure Virtual Desktop, Cloud PCs, published application delivery, and modern endpoint management are converging in ways that are reshaping how IT teams design and support their organizations’ digital workspaces. But amid the noise of product launches and analyst reports, what’s actually happening on the ground?
That’s the question driving the State of VDI 2026 — and we need your help to answer it.
About the survey
VMblog has teamed up with two of the industry’s leading VDI specialists to conduct this comprehensive annual research effort: Nerdio and Recast Software.
Together, we’re gathering insights across the full spectrum of virtual desktop environments — from on-premises deployments to cloud-native delivery — with the goal of producing a detailed, data-driven industry report that will be shared back with the entire community.
The survey covers virtual desktops, published applications, Cloud PCs, modern delivery methods, management challenges, and what IT professionals see coming next. It takes approximately 5–8 minutes to complete.
Who should take it?
If you’re involved in any of the following, we want to hear from you:
Managing, designing, supporting, or shaping decisions around VDI or published application environments — whether that’s a handful of virtual desktops in a single office or a global cloud-delivered workspace for thousands of users.
It doesn’t matter if you’re a hands-on admin, an architect, a team lead, or an executive sponsor. Every perspective adds value. The more diverse the respondent base, the richer and more useful the final report becomes for everyone.
Why it matters
It is important to surface findings that help IT teams make smarter decisions — from understanding how peers are tackling licensing costs to what adoption curves look like for AVD and Windows 365. This information will be particularly timely given the ongoing shifts in how organizations approach hybrid work, endpoint security, and cloud infrastructure spend.
Your input directly shapes what gets measured, analyzed, and published. The report won’t exist without voices like yours.
