10ZiG® Technology announced support for the recently released Omnissa Horizon Client for Linux 2606, bringing significant video decoding performance improvements to supported 10ZiG Intel- and AMD-based endpoint devices.

The Horizon Client for Linux 2606 release introduces substantial improvements to VAAPI video decoding performance on systems using Intel and AMD GPUs, with performance gains of up to 2x. The enhancements are designed to improve the performance of remote desktops and published applications delivered through Omnissa Horizon.

Through an ongoing technology partnership, 10ZiG provides Omnissa with thin client devices for testing, optimizing and validating Horizon Blast Extreme performance across 10ZiG’s Intel- and AMD-based hardware portfolio. The collaboration enables both companies to test Horizon releases against purpose-built endpoint hardware and optimize the experience for mutual customers.

Testing of the new 2606 Linux Client demonstrated significant performance improvements on the 10ZiG 7100q Series, powered by the AMD Ryzen R2514 processor, and 10ZiG 7300q Series, powered by the Intel N100 processor. Performance gains were validated across the codecs supported by each model, including H.264 (4:2:0), HEVC (4:2:0) and, on the 7300q Series, AV1, as well as imaging based and lossless codec options.

Horizon Blast supports a range of codecs for remoting screen content, including H.264, HEVC and AV1, and can take advantage of GPU hardware acceleration when supported by the client and agent hardware. The performance improvements in Horizon 2606 therefore provide organizations using supported 10ZiG endpoints with an opportunity to deliver smoother, more responsive virtual desktop experiences while maximizing the capabilities of endpoint GPU hardware.

“It’s really impressive to see such improvements in frame rate and performance with this release, and it is another testament to the strong partnership between Omnissa and 10ZiG,” said Kevin Greenway, CTO, 10ZiG Technology. “We look forward to certifying 10ZiG models with the Horizon 2606 release and offering our mutual customers these impressive performance gains.”

10ZiG Moves Toward Omnissa Ready Certification for Horizon 2606

As an Omnissa Ready partner, 10ZiG is currently working with the Omnissa Ready team to complete certification against the Horizon 2606 release. Certification is planned for eligible 10ZiG NOS™ and PeakOS™ models that support VAAPI video decoding, giving customers validated options for deploying the latest Horizon Client capabilities across secure, centrally managed endpoint environments.

“Endpoint performance plays an important role in delivering a high-quality virtual desktop experience, particularly as organizations increasingly rely on rich media and graphics-intensive applications,” said Anirban Chakraborty, Senior Product Line Manager, Omnissa. “Our work with 10ZiG gives us access to purpose-built endpoint hardware for testing and optimizing Horizon Blast Extreme. The performance improvements in Horizon Client for Linux 2606 demonstrate what this type of collaboration can deliver for our mutual customers.” The latest Horizon support builds on the longstanding relationship between 10ZiG and Omnissa and 10ZiG’s broader commitment to providing customers with endpoint choice across leading VDI, DaaS and digital workspace platforms. 10ZiG offers both purpose-built thin client hardware and software options for repurposing existing devices, supported by centralized management through the 10ZiG Manager™ platform.
