Economist Impact will host the 2nd annual AI Compute summit on May 19th 2026 in Amsterdam, bringing together more than 300 senior leaders, policymakers and technology experts to examine the infrastructure powering the next generation of artificial intelligence.

As AI systems become increasingly complex, the global race for computing power is intensifying. The summit will explore how organisations can scale, optimise and secure compute infrastructure while managing the economic, environmental and geopolitical implications of the AI boom.

Powering the next era of artificial intelligence

Artificial intelligence is transforming industries but its growth is placing unprecedented pressure on global computing infrastructure. Demand for graphics processing units (GPUs), specialised chips and high-performance computing is accelerating rapidly, while rising energy requirements are challenging power grids and sustainability commitments.

The AI Compute summit will bring together leaders from across technology, enterprise, finance and policy to explore how organisations can build scalable, resilient and sustainable infrastructure for AI. Discussions will examine issues including compute scarcity, energy demand, data-centre innovation and the strategic importance of sovereign AI capability.

Distinguished speakers and thought leaders

The event will feature more than 60 influential speakers from across the AI and technology ecosystem, including leaders from global technology companies, enterprise organisations, policymakers and infrastructure providers.

Speakers will share insights on the future of AI infrastructure, the competition for advanced chips and accelerators and the strategies organisations are adopting to power AI responsibly and efficiently.
