StorMagic and HiveRadar are joining forces to target a growing demand for IT infrastructure that can operate far beyond the walls of traditional data centers.

The two companies this week announced a partnership that combines StorMagic’s SvHCI virtualization platform with HiveRadar’s Portable Edge Data Center (P-EDC), a ruggedized hardware system designed for mobility. The integrated offering is aimed at organizations that need secure, high-performance compute in environments ranging from disaster recovery zones to remote industrial sites.

The move reflects a broader shift toward edge computing architectures that prioritize portability and resilience, particularly as industries such as energy, defense and retail look to support operations in distributed or connectivity-constrained locations.

At the core of the joint solution is StorMagic’s lightweight hyperconverged infrastructure software, which brings virtualization and storage together in a compact footprint. Paired with HiveRadar’s transportable P-EDC units, the companies say customers can deploy fully functional IT environments in minutes, rather than building out traditional infrastructure.

“Whether operating in disaster recovery zones, forward-operating environments, mobile command centers, remote film sets or distributed retail sites, our customers can now deploy a secure, high-performance virtualized environment in minutes,” said Rahul Narsimhan, CEO, HiveRadar. “Together, StorMagic and HiveRadar customers will benefit from rapid deployment and travel-ready mobility, which is especially beneficial for defense, emergency response, energy, retail, entertainment and industrial operations users.”

The combined platform is designed to address common challenges at the edge, including limited power availability, intermittent connectivity and physical constraints. Features include data-at-rest encryption, virtual machine import capabilities for migrating existing workloads and caching designed to boost performance in resource-constrained environments.

The system also incorporates embedded telemetry and witness functionality to monitor system health and maintain data integrity, alongside support for low-latency compute and storage. Off-grid operation is a key focus, with the solution built to function in disconnected scenarios and support rapid redeployment as needed.

Connectivity is handled through a Mako PCI DSS-compliant 5G cellular gateway, with support for low Earth orbit satellite terminals, enabling deployments in areas where traditional networking infrastructure is unavailable.

“Combining SvHCI with HiveRadar’s P-EDC lets customers virtualize mobile infrastructures with high availability and failover capabilities, ensuring applications remain online and operations are uninterrupted anywhere in the world,” said Susan Odle, CEO, StorMagic. “With StorMagic and HiveRadar’s integrated mobile infrastructure, customers no longer have to choose between mobility and performance–they get both.”

The joint solution is available immediately through StorMagic’s global partner and reseller network.

The partnership underscores how vendors are increasingly packaging software and hardware together to simplify edge deployments, particularly for organizations operating in unpredictable or hard-to-reach environments.
