At IGEL Now & Next 2026 in Miami at the Fontainebleau Hotel, VMblog sat down with Ben Murphy, Senior Director of Alliance Management at Nerdio, for an in-depth conversation about how Nerdio is simplifying Windows in the cloud — and a sneak peek at a major new integration that’s turning heads on the show floor.
Nerdio’s Mission: Simplicity at Scale
Nerdio has built its reputation on reducing complexity for IT administrators working inside the Microsoft ecosystem. Whether it’s Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), Windows 365, or Microsoft Intune, Nerdio’s flagship platform — Nerdio Manager — gives administrators a single, unified pane of glass to configure, automate, and orchestrate cloud-based Windows environments without the manual heavy lifting.
As Murphy explains, the core philosophy is “outside in” — listening to customers, understanding their real pain points, and solving not just today’s problems, but anticipating tomorrow’s challenges before customers even recognize them. That customer-first mindset, combined with a deep and strategic relationship with Microsoft, is what Murphy says sets Nerdio apart from the crowd of vendors on the IGEL Now & Next show floor.
What’s New: Nerdio Manager for Enterprise v7.7
Nerdio arrived at the event with fresh news in hand. Nerdio Manager for Enterprise version 7.7 has just launched, bringing expanded reporting capabilities through its Insights tool and a significant investment in real-time monitoring — including, notably, the ability to monitor physical devices. For administrators who need a consolidated view of their entire environment without jumping between multiple tools, this release moves the needle in a meaningful way.
The Big Announcement: A Zero-Friction IGEL Integration
But the headline moment of this interview? A major integration with IGEL set to be formally announced at the show — one that promises a true zero-friction, out-of-the-box experience for end users on any IGEL OS device.
Here’s how it works: An end user opens any device running IGEL OS, enters their Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD), and is seamlessly brokered through Nerdio Manager directly into their Azure Virtual Desktop or Windows 365 environment. Nerdio Manager handles all of the entitlement logic in the background — who has access to what, Intune and Entra configurations — and passes everything back down to the IGEL client automatically.
The result? The end user simply opens their laptop, logs in, and lands exactly where they need to be productive. No friction. No IT headaches. No bouncing between configuration tools.
Murphy was careful to note this is currently a preview feature — meaning VMblog is getting an exclusive early look — but the integration is already demonstrating clean, intuitive functionality that aligns squarely with what both Nerdio and IGEL customers have been asking for.
