High-Performance, Ultra-Reliable, Scalable Storage for Kubernetes

Pages: 2

This document focuses on how StorPool Storage provides high-performance persistent storage for Kubernetes, the industry-standard container orchestration system. While Kubernetes offers great flexibility for managing containers at scale, modern business applications require enterprise-grade features for persistent storage, such as high-performance, high-availability, and security.

StorPool’s software-defined storage provides these features for Kubernetes, including:

  • End-to-end data integrity
  • Efficient Copy-on-write snapshots and clones
  • High availability
  • Easy scalability
  • Backups and disaster recovery
  • Advanced monitoring and statistics

StorPool integrates with Kubernetes through a plugin for the Container Storage Interface (CSI), which allows Kubernetes to automatically and easily create persistent storage volumes on a StorPool cluster. This allows StorPool’s high-performance storage to be used as the default for all data, stateful applications, microservices, and databases. The CSI plugin also supports dynamic provisioning and allows on-premises Kubernetes clusters to dynamically detach and attach persistent block storage volumes to different nodes as needed.

The solution also supports KubeVirt, a software tool that allows for the management of virtual machines (VMs) within a Kubernetes cluster. StorPool’s integration with KubeVirt automates the process of creating and attaching storage volumes to these VMs, which is especially useful for organizations migrating workloads from traditional VMs to cloud-native Kubernetes containers.

Furthermore, StorPool supports multiple IT stacks and cloud management systems, providing high-performance shared storage from a single system for a wide range of technologies, including Kubernetes, OpenStack, VMware, Linux KVM, OpenNebula, CloudStack, and proprietary Cloud Management Systems.
