Dorado Software (
http://doradosoftware.com), a leading provider of infrastructure lifecycle management software, today announced the release of Redcell™ Systems Commander, an agentless standards-based management product that provides advanced monitoring and automated configuration for both physical and virtual compute environments. Redcell Systems Commander is a new addition to the Redcell v6.1 portfolio of comprehensive data center automation solutions for managing servers, storage, and networks in physical and virtualized environments.
The key benefits of Redcell Systems Commander are reduced operational expenses, optimized server uptime & performance, automated compliance management, and standardized update and patch management processes.
"Redcell Systems Commander's CIM-based event and configuration management is unique in the industry as it provides automated monitoring and remediation that scales across thousands of physical and virtualized servers,” said Mike Grote, vice president of enterprise product management at Dorado Software.
Redcell Systems Commander is an integrated add-on product to Redcell OpsCenter – which provides foundation capabilities such as physical and virtual server discovery, physical and virtual link discovery, Configuration Management Database (CMDB) association mapping and advanced monitoring of devices, interfaces and services. It is also seamlessly integrated with other Redcell enterprise products, including Redcell Network Commander and Redcell Storage Commander, for comprehensive change and configuration management of networking and storage devices. The integration offers a single ‘pane-of-glass’ view into the datacenter which allows for quick problem resolution without the use of multiple point tools. It also offers the power and flexibility to manage servers via a customizable permission-based graphical user interface. For instance, the connectivity data, when synchronized with asset data in the CMDB, creates a complete picture of the IT infrastructure that can be represented in highly customizable reports, topology views or reference trees.
Unique to the Redcell platform, most configuration actions can be performed ad-hoc or as automated tasks that can be either scheduled or invoked from the centralized event management system. Examples of automation tasks include the application of specific configuration and security changes to groups of systems. All configuration actions are stored in the Redcell repository for performing compliance checks and reporting.
Server uptime and performance can be optimized by using provided key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and chart running application services, process availability, memory, CPU, storage and network usage. Data obtained can identify application and system performance bottlenecks, aid in problem resolution, initiate automated, threshold-based configuration and remediation tasks and provide insight for system virtualization resource requirements.
Redcell System Commander’s hardware and OS patch provisioning capabilities allow IT administrators to quickly and easily acquire and push BIOS, Firmware, OS Driver and security updates out to managed Windows systems and groups of systems across the network from one central console. Being able to quickly identify and remediate servers that need to be patched improves the efficiency of IT resources, ensures system security and stability which lowers the risk of downtime.
Redcell Systems Commander’s automation capabilities provide a powerful and cost efficient way to enforce compliance policies across Windows and Linux-based servers and clients in mixed physical and virtual environments. Centralized event management based on CIM/WBEM, SYSLOG, SNMP and configuration audits can provide compliance alerts and remediation task invocation.
